Job Information

This is onsite and hybrid. The mental health therapist will provide primarily individual therapy to multicultural adolescents and young adults at a comprehensive and/or continuation school on the Bay Area Peninsula. Additionally, this therapist will perform some intensive case management and make referrals to outside resources as appropriate. This therapist will be part of a student services team of compassionate and culturally sustaining clinicians and educators serving our highest risk adolescents attending a small alternative public school of 250 students.


● Provides weekly individual psychotherapy to students on campus

● Provides family therapy to some families of students as needed

● Some case management and crisis intervention

● Able to run therapy groups as needed

● Collaborates with education staff and may provide some consultation and clinical insight to staff

● Meets with clinical supervisor on a regular basis

Desired Skills and Expectations:

● Clinical expertise working effectively with adolescents and adults, with cultural sensitivity and compassion

● Psychodynamic and strengths based approach

● Knowledge and use of attachment theory in practice

● Knowledge of family or other systems theory

● Some experience working with adolescents with high needs and their parents and families

● Understanding of and experience working with complex trauma

● Flexibility and ability to effectively navigate a variety of systems and collaborative relationships

● Awareness of and honors cultural norms and implications in counseling

● Adherence to confidentiality within complex systems

● Natural and highly developed collaborative and rapport building abilities

● Excellent writing and verbal communication skills



● Experience providing psychotherapy to multicultural adolescents with complex trauma and some experience working in a school setting
