Job Information

We are hiring for a part or full time Support Counselor, this is temporary for at least 6 months, could be temp to hire. The Support Counselor would serve as sort of an assistant to the social worker, spend weekly hours with youth that are considered intensive services placement, and thereafter submit a monthly log of their visits and notes for each youth for the month. They would also attend meetings alongside the social worker to advocate for the youth. Part of this work can be done remotely but the majority will be done in the office and community.

Required experience and education:

  • BA in a discipline approved by CCL with at least 1 year experience
  • Valid California driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and a driving record acceptable to the agency
  • Meets All State requirements as set by CCL pertaining to the hiring of employees by a licensed Community Care Facility.
  • Own vehicle and ability to transport self and foster youth around the Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, SF, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. (w/ mileage reimbursements)

Job Duties:

  • Provides weekly (emotional, educational, social, and behavioral) support to children and NMDs at the intensive treatment foster care level, when all team members have deemed that the child or NMD is in need of extra services in order to sustain placement.
  • Facilitate In-home behavioral interaction in the family setting, in order to improve the home environment for the child or NMD and overall family relationship.
  • Provide support to the primary caseworker.
  • Observe youth in the school setting in order to assess the child’s or NMDs needs, and work cohesively with the child or NMD and school in the academic setting.
  • Obtain resources for child or NMD.
  • Assist the family, and primary caseworker, with transportation if needed in order to ensure that child or NMD are receiving resources and attending all essential meetings and appointments.
  • Advocate for child or NMD and family at Team Decision Meetings with county of origin.
  • Provide assessments to the Program Director/ Administrator for direction with interventions.
  • Type contact notes, and keep record logs of progress with family and child or NMD, and submit to primary caseworker.
  • Attend all mental health trainings, and staffing of cases.
  • Construct incident reports, and provide intensive all around support to the child’s or NMDs entire team.
  • Participate in the Child and Family Team (CFT).
