Job Information

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced individual to plan, organize, and direct our agency’s fundraising operation including annual, capital and specific campaigns, legacy giving; special events; grant writing; and donor stewardship. Develops and executes the annual fundraising plan. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director, Associate Executive Director, Board of Directors, Development Committee, and department staff in all development and fundraising endeavors. Under the supervision of the Executive Director.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Individual Donations and Campaigns

· Grows agency major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors

· Oversees Rusnak Center Capital Campaign and has overall responsibility for reaching $5.5 million target goal ($1 million already raised)

· Oversees and builds legacy giving program, including deferred gifts such as bequests

· Directs annual Friends Fund campaign, including mailings, Callathons and fundraising drives

· Helps donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions and maintains ongoing donor stewardship, incorporating gift recognition programs

· Oversees prospect research, including wealth screening

· Oversees vehicle donation program and seeks ways to bring in more income through it and similar programs

Grant Writing and Corporate Relationships

· Oversees grant writing including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements

· Coordinates funding needs with agency management and program staff

· Creates and maintains relationships with private and corporate foundation personnel

Fundraising Events

· Responsible for overall coordination of fundraising events

· Along with development committee, creates new fundraising events

Member of Management Staff Team/Administrative Responsibilities

· Supervises Manager of Public Relations, Development Associate and any other fundraising/marketing staff.

· Makes public appearances/accepts speaking engagements to share information about agency with the community

· Staffs Board Development Committee and raises its level of functioning

· Oversees work of Development Associate to manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including agency donor database and wealth screening tools.

· Oversees creation of publications to support fund raising activities

· Perform other related duties as requested

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of bachelor’s degree

· 5 years minimum progressive experience in professional fundraising

· Knowledge and proven experience in nonprofit fundraising techniques, particularly capital campaigns and major gift fundraising

· Familiarity and ease with Excel and donation databases

· Strong interpersonal and writing skills

· Motivational skills vis-à-vis donors, staff, board members and volunteers.

· Goal-driven, self-starter who initiates and completes donation and grant acquisition process.

· Experience building and sustaining external partner relationships.

· Strongly organized, possessing follow through on tasks and goals.
