Social Service Staffing & Recruiting, Inc. is hiring for 4 temporary full time case managers to work at a Navigation Center in the Mission district (commutable by BART), M – F basic business hours starting ASAP through Feb., possibly longer. $22/ hour for monolingual English speakers and $25/ hour for bilingual Spanish speakers.

SUMMARY:
This position provides a full range of direct case management to formerly homeless clients in SF, these case managers are not responsible for locating long term housing. This position evaluates client needs and develops a service plan to approximately 20 active clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide direct client services: individual counseling, case management, advocacy and accompaniment.
• Conduct new client screenings: review applications and interview new clients.
• Client information must be entered in database within 72 hours.
• Create a service plan for each client with key issues prioritized.
• Partner with service providers to meet each client’s service plan goals by coordinating care.
• Assist clients in maintaining stability by offering support and linkage to services.
• Observe clients passively to determine issues that need intervention.
• Facilitate meetings and support groups as needed.
• Develop client exit survey and case summary to support outcomes and program analysis.
• Maintain client records, individual case files, daily log and service statistics in an accurate and timely manner.
• Participate in regular staff meetings including case management meetings and program development.
• Participate in on-going staff development and training.
• Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA degree in social services, psychology or other related field.
• One year experience providing services to homeless people.
• Demonstrated skills in counseling, case management and client advocacy.
• Familiarity with the philosophy and approach of Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and OARS.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of homeless issues, especially in context to race, class, gender, and sexual identity.
• Knowledge, experience, and comfort working with a diverse community, including LGBTQQ, youth, immigrant, low income communities, and communities of color.
• Working knowledge of community resources.
• Demonstrated commitment to open, direct, and non-violent communication.
• Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and make decisions under pressure.
• Average reporting skills including data entry, Excel and Word processing.
• Strong initiative and ability to work both independently and cooperatively with staff.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, volunteers and staff.
